The new RCI 2995dx radio ?....

Well, when I had the FT 840 I used it some on a PS, mostly used it on the 10m band, and it seems to talk pretty well...but on 11m talking dx on SSB, it didnt seem to do as good as I felt it should have...

But I did listen to all the dx rolling on the other meter bands...
I also just have a Imax 2000 here but its back on the mountain here also...
But like I say, I didnt use the 840 much, it was still in new condition when I sold it...

I do talk mostly on the 11m band, but from time to time I do talk on the 10m band also...I wanted a radio that had the best of both worlds, and the 840 didnt have that, this is why I sold it..

So, Im going to order me a 2995dx radio, thought about looking for one used, but I hate to buy one and maybe have problems with it....so I going to dish out the bucks and buy me a new one, that way Ill know what I have...

Well, Ive been running a mobile here for awhile on a PS and also used a 2 pill on a PS, but I had the PS the 2 pill ran on it just up and died, and Ive been tired of fooling with the PSs and using them for sometime now....and Ive also been running a Cobra 2000 which is a low drive radio, in which it dont run my HD base amp very well by its self, it needs the 2 pill to get it going.....

But Ive had my eye on the 2995dx radio for sometime and I think its just time for a change here...may end up saleing off the 2000 and 2 pill, not sure yet..

Been awhile since Ive been here...

But I did buy me a new 2995dx radio, and also bought a fan kit for it from Redmans cb....my radio, u have to pull the cover off to install the FK due to the washers that came with it are a little rounder....
But it works great, the radio stays cool...

After running this radio for a few months theres a few things I dont care much for, one is the fan that runs on the power supply inside the radio all the time...
Takes a little getting use to listening to it....
And the other one is the modulation...everyone talks about how much there radio swings on a wattmeter and all that, but I dont see the swing like they talk about seeing..but too my meter may need recalibrated..

But it talks good on ssb with just the radio...
But I do like alot of the features it offers...
Thats what makes talking on ssb so fun with it..

" ...everyone talks about how much there radio swings on a wattmeter and all that "

I would not get worked up about a reading on a watt meter. This probably means that Redman did a proper peak and tune. I suppose if you way over tweeked it or clipped it you could get a real impressive "number" on your watt meter if that would make you feel better. I would rather have a reliable radio that sounds great then get 30 more fake watts that no one will hear.

10-4, I know this radio seems to talk good on ssb, and I really like this radio and all the features it has, dont plan on letting this radio go anywhere..

The other night I was on 37lsb, and talked with 3 guys out in Wisconsin guess we talked to 45 minutes or so...

I didnt get my radio from Redmans...
