The old FCC issued cb call signs

It seems to me that I saw something on the web that someone was offering replica licenses for for a small fee. You send them your old call letters and they will print one up and send it to you. I don't remember whether the license was a direct replica of the original or something close to it. You might want to do a search for "replica CB license" and see if anything pops up.

That sucks I wish i could have found my dads CB call sign. I remember him getting one in the early 70s

The funny thing was he was into linears and all that stuff. I bought him an Icom export CB and he loves it, all the knobs and buttond etc..

I was 15 in '76. Sent in my $12 to the FCC.Got my call letters. Unbeknownst to me, the SC rules fees for public access were unconstitutional. One year later I got a check in the mail for $12. LOL. When was the last time the government refunded your fees for anything? I just thought that was the way government worked: when they were wrong, they righted it. Now they won't even give your kid back. How far we've come!

My old call sign was KBKD1226. We lived in Plant City Fla and my dads call sign was KSC9202. His handle was Lobo and of course mine was Lobo Jr. I have changed my handle to Lobo now in honor of my dad when he passed away. I now live in south Ga. 73s

My call sign was KBNT 1164, I lived on our family dairy in Clovis, California. This was the early 70's. I had my license in a file but lost track after returning from deployment in the Army. I would sure like to find it. To me the license was a major victory.

Back in the early seventies in CA, when the pre fix went from 3 letters to 4 letters I got my license. KAEP-7157, but I had been OTA long before that.

I just found out my grandparents in california had KFA7074. I found reference to them attending a meeting in the May 1966 issue of S9. I thought that was kinda cool.

I own a lot of ICOM Amateur Radios but was unaware they make any CB Radios? Maybe it's really an Amateur Radio since they don't make CB Radio & never have that I can find? They make Amateur Radio,Marine Band,Aircraft Band,& Business Band but ZERO CB Band radios.

Was just looking through these old posts about call signs when I read your father's old call. Mine was KSC2925.

I also recall being able to buy a CB radio in the late 60's and early 70's without having a license. The license form was always included in the box with the CB.

You're correct! A license wasn't required to purchase a CB radio back in the day.

This is a very ancient post. After reading it all I realize My FCC license is trash. Mine was issued in 1981. A piece of thick paper in a wallet after ten years is a goner.
When I requested a replacement, the response was NO its now combined in your
pilots license, no need for a separate FCC tag. Its combined with your FAA tag.

KAHY 9893, mid 70's. JCPenney 23 channel mobile running on a car battery with a radio shack 1/4 wave base antenna. Good times.

KAWG7287 started out with a Spark O Matic 23 channel, Radio Shack power supply and a magnet mount mobile antenna stuck to a metal plate on the roof of the house. Southeast side of Chicago about 1977.
