Hopefully he will continue playing with the radio and learn how short wave radio works.
For me the constant "and everything like that" statements were what turned me off to it.
I'm glad that the hobby is staying alive and new folks are getting interested. I think the guy was just excited and wanted to show the internet his cool radio that he got as a gift. Grandpa did his part in helping keep radio alive.
I'm Gen X (right on the cusp of Millenial) and I sure hope radio stays alive. I plan on doing my part to promote it. I am planning on getting my Technician license here in a while too but mainly I love listening to short wave and catching hams chatting every once in a while.
