This might sound stupid!

Within the "40 channels" there are a few that jump 20khz. Some refer to them as 'a' channels. You use that switch to get in between them. Some of the other guys can check me for accuracy as I don't have a channel chart in front of me at the moment. 3, 7, 11, 15, 19 & 23 I bleieve.

Most export radios are 10 meter radios, just channelized so to say....at teh very top end of the 10 meter band ...usually 29.000 mhz more or less to 29.700 mhz is the FM portion of the band...and there are several 10 meter repeaters out there and they work just like the repeaters for 6 meter 2 meter etc... but the 10 meter repeaters usually have an offset of 10 kc......if you throw that 10kc switch and you find your recieve doesnt move and your transmit does that is what the 10kc switch is for...if your recieve moves as well the post above is what that switch does

I always heard that the FCC allowed 5 freq. for remote airplanes and such back in the late 60's or early 70's ?? not sure on the actual date of this and some of the old 23 channel base and mobile radios had these channels and they were channel-3a freq. 26.995, ch.-7a-27.045, ch.11a-27.095, ch.15a-27.145, and ch.19a-27.195 your 10khz switch will take you there put your radio on ch. 19 and flip up the switch and you will be between ch.19 and ch.20 on freq.27.195 Back in the day we had some fun on these 5 freq. Hmmmmm enough said about that. Hope this is helpful for you.

You are on the right track. They were "R/C" freqs.

CB band frequency chart

... but the 10 meter repeaters usually have an offset of 10 kc......

Ten meter repeater frequencies are : 29.620, 29.640, 29.660, and 29.680 MHz with a minus 100 KHz input. You may also find a few repeaters on non standard frequencies with odd splits.
