Social Security Disability and VA compensation are the 2 most extreme cases of taking taxpayers for a ride.
I know someone who served in Vietnam and made it through with no problems. 40 years later He gained 60 lbs and became a type 2 diabetic and blamed it on agent orange..People who game the system should be locked up.......

No "gaming" the system involved,....... If he was in VN, then he WAS exposed to agent orange, no ifs, ands, or buts.

So was my father. He sprayed it commercially for a dozen years on powerline right of ways. His clothes were soaked in it as the heat made it impossible to wear water proof gear. No respirator either. He is 78 years old and still quite healthy. The detrimental effects of Agent Orange (2-4-D and 2-4-5-T) are overblown in my opinon. I'm no fan boy for Dow Chemical believe me but I think where there is a free dollar to be made there will be all sorts of "cases" that appear.
He also sprayed PCB laden transformer oil mixed with Agent Orange when it was too cold to use water. This was of course before the big PCB scare. Again I say the effects are over blown. Similar to finding a tiny bit of asbestos on a old pipe and it costing tbousands of dollars to clean it up by a certified company when a plastic bag will contain it. It's all about lifetime exposure in this case. Nobody ever died from one single case of asbestos remidiation. It takes years of unprotected contact like my friends father who ded two years ago after working for years in an asbestos mine.

I know a guy that works a physical job 40+ hours a week and draws a disability check from the military. Maybe he's entitled to it but he and wife make a very good living. What kind of person would take a disability check when they don't need it?

His disabled vet plate also gives him the right to park in a handicap space. Nothing wrong with that either but since he can walk just fine wouldn't a decent man leave that spot for someone who can barely get out of the car and struggles to walk?

In Florida you can get a DV plate if you are 100% disabled or lose at least part of your leg below the knee. I had to retire early from my last job because of my medical issues, but I can still walk and I don't use handicap spaces.
There is a lawyer who has a DV plate on his Porsche.....PTSD from Kosovo.
So many horribly disabled veterans are still on waiting lists for compensation and when people see these abuses, they start making assumptions about all veterans.

Anyone who is obese has a high likelihood of type 2 diabetes. I know the guy personally and he went from 150 lbs to over 210 lbs and that caused his type 2 diabetes.....he is 5' 4" tall. Getting paid for harming himself is wrong but I know the PTSD claim is a fraud since he bragged about it.

It's not only the free money but free healthcare with no copays for life. He gets free healthcare but his wife qualifies for low cost heathcare in the neighborhood of $450 per month the last time I checked.
