Once upon a time, (early to mid-eighties) there was a three-letter mail-order marketing company that offered electronics items (usually, last years closeout items). At one point they offered a pair of miniature CB radios that looked to be about the size of a current computer thumb drive. I have never seen any mention of those radios in any other venue. Does anyone know anything about them? IE. who made them, are they still being sold, were they any good, etc?

DAK? Maybe not.

Pro151, you're right about the likelihood that they were junk, but they were also fascinating for the fact that they were so small in a time when SMD didn't exist.

As for DAK, I definitely got their mailers. I recall the style of Drew Kaplan's writing. However, I seem to recall a "J" as one of those three letters. I'm thinking it was a competitor.

I think you might need to re think your memory of the 1980's. LOL. I doubt they had anything electronic the size of a thumb drive back then.

i remember back in the late 70s early 80s there were a few handhelds that werent much bigger than a pack of cigarettes. there were a few mobiles that were about as big as 2 packs but were like just 3 and 5 channels. some of the recievers (didnt transmit) were really small about like some radar detectors is. i will have to go look in my magazine pile and look up some old adds to find any more info. 73s midnight special

Maybe it was MFJ? I seem to recall they sold a lot of ham gear, perhaps in kit form.

Sometimes referred to as Mighty Fine Junk.
