tip over tower - wooden homebrew

That certainly is unique... I like it!

I like the red & white idea. When I saw it the first thing I thought of was a broadcast tower.

I'd stay away from metallic paint.

Is it easy to lower, enough to try the 5/8(23' .64?)?

I kinda want to build one of these now! Not sure what I'd put on it, but it looks like a good design.

Only thing I'd comment on, is advise running some copper strap from the mast, to a copper rod at the bottom, to act as both an electrical and RF ground.

Georgia Copper - COPPER GROUND STRAP for GROUNDING AND BONDING

Think I would use some 10 ga house wire down its length and save a lot of money. Two/three strands. Copper strapping isn't as cheap as wire is.
>shrugs<

I will be passing the plate for donations to buy some grounding strap/wire Sunday, 9/26/2010, at ten AM sharp. Whether I use strap or wire will be determined by the size of the donations. ;)

Better than mines Homer. Door hinge and a weed whacker handle

 Nice on Homer, You got me thinking here. I got an Idea, probably gonna modify my lay over gadjet.

That'$ too cool!(y)
- You have that guyed farther up, right?

I don't $ee how it could avoid falling to one $ide if not. What'$ the antenna atop that highly unique $$aving mounting $y$tem?

Yes. Very easy. No strain, great gain ;)
When I get it laid over (hopefully this evening) I'll photograph the hoisting mechanism for ya.

going by your other dollar saving exploits,i can just picture the hoisting mechanism, the wife with a huge f@cking rope, lol.

seriously though homer, its looking real good there, hopefully it will last you years.and i bet it will be a damn sight cheaper and easier to repair should anything go wrong than a commercial tower.

would also be ideal for a horizontal dipole mounted just below the top with no tower interaction.

The tip over tower is guyed within four feet of the top.
I have been lovingly doing honey do's the last several days. Hopefully, I've cleared enough of the list that never gets shorter to be permitted to play with my toys for a day or two. If so, I'll get the tower over, reinforced, and painted. Sorry, the little woman vetoed the red and white striped scheme. So I'll have to find some paint that let's it blend into the rest of the place . . .

As for the dipole, the plan is to try a HB9CV for 11 meters right above the wood, beneath the vertical. We'll see.
