Well all I finally got the radios got them to talk to the PC wiped them but they won't transmit just beeeeeping when I try.

I'm assuming it's something I did as I think I test transmitted one before wiping and it did TX.

Best would be if someone had a codeplug for GMRS but if not that maybe tell me what's to checked / unchecked etc as I'm sure I've jacked it all up as I was messing with all manner of stuff like an idiot.

Update - wasn't my fault after all.
Seller sold me dash 2 model while stating was 450-490 mhz but that's NOT a dash 2. Dash 2 does 485 - 512 mhz ..... totally unusable for GMRS and not discovered until 4 hours of attempted programming and out of reasons why I finally looked carefully at the label. Not sure what he may do about it but we will see. I don't think he knew the difference in the model line. 20250114_202245.jpg20250114_201556.jpg

Seller of course got agressive refused to acknowledge his mistake and refused to accept the return.
I warned him this was a bad course of action. Ebay resolved the dispute in my favor. He WILL be refunding whether he wants to or not.

Glad you got it figured out. It's easy to miss the version needed since there are multiple versions for the same model.

I went down the Kenwood programming road a couple years ago. I picked up several of the TK 981s to use on the 900 mhz amateur band. It also used the same software as you used KPG 49D. Since these were not designed to work on the ham bands I had to download a hex-edit program that a guy (much smarter than me) developed to trick the radio down from 930 to 920 mhz. It took a lot of research and trial and error but I got it to work well. I then flashed 2 other rigs for my friends. We have been playing on 900 for a couple years with great success.

If I ever get into GMRS I will probably pick up a 880 to play with since I already have the software on my desktop.
