Ok ive started a tower install. I was gonna do 7 sections on a hinge plate. Mocked it up today with 4 sections. Was a lil concerned walking up 4 sections on a hinge plate... Seems a lil flimsy at just 4 sections of Rohn 25G. ive always buried it in concrete and put it up one section at a time. This hinge plateness is new to me. Will 7 sections stand up? If not will 6?? I have a good base plate.:confused::confused:

4 yes, 6 or 7 no not without some assistance like a rope but I wouldn't because it will not stand alone without guy wires so if you attach those wire then good luck.

Don't forget the added weight of the antenna and pole.

I'm standing 6 sections on a hinged plate, and plan on doing 8.

I have stood 7 sections using a hinge plate and pulley system to pull it up attached at the 50' level.

This was without any rotor or antenna on the tower as all that weight at the top does and will make a difference.

I use a hazer system to raise and lower the antenna, rotor, and pulleys for the wires.

It can be done safely but put some thought into how you will raise it and how much weight you will have at the top of that tower.

Rohn tower is designed for "VERTICAL" support, it is very weak at the joints where joined together, for a pull up type of install 1/2" galvanized water pipe fits nicely inside the legs where it joins together, drill a couple of holes in it and install the sections, plenty of support in the leg joint sections, never had one bend yet.

Also when raising a tower in one piece NEVER attach the lifting line where sections join. Always attach them in the middle of a section. This minimises the stress on the joint.

This is the tilt base I built for 40 ft tower. I can tell you unless your going to bracket it high up to a building or guy it I would not go above 40 ft. Mine is free standing and I am going to make brakets soon because I can not sleep at night with the swaying it does lol.
