Trashing the band

Was chatting with some locals on 26.865 the other night, this guy was wiping us all out. I assume probably the same guy. After a while we got sick of it and hung it up for the night. I flipped up to "the bowl" there he was carrying on talkiing at people as CK said. others would tell him to shut up, curse at him, ya know how they do, he paid no attention.
One of the guys I chat with said he had been at it for a week or more, from 6-7am well into the night. He must have got a new toy.

Yep, most likely was the same guy.

On my end, I don't need to assume or guess. I can watch the entire CB spectrum in real time... below and above chan 6 while I listen to his transmission as he's keyed up. Signals just as strong as his don't have the trashing effect on the spectrum that he does when he keys up.

Thanks for another report.

what tool/device do you use to monitor a given frequency range??

I'm using a software defined radio (sdr). It's a "computer radio". You can "see" the band while you are listening to it. It has a spectrum analyzer on the screen. You can see every signal on the band in real time... and the effect one bad transmitter has on the frequencies above and below where it's transmitting.

He's on right now and I can literally not talk to anyone on any channel. Guess it's a 80 meter night.

It's getting tiresome having the spectrum trashed by one station whenever the skip is in from approximately 26.850 to 27.150khz. I'm using an SDR to monitor the band and can "see" that "766" in Mississippi on channel 6 is literally trashing the spectrum with an extremely "dirty" station. I'm not against stations running power, but when you're generating that power (most likely by running a big amp Class C), you're going to cause a lot of disruption to a lot of people. Day after day here in the midwest, this guy is generating crap all over the spectrum and making operating anywhere in the spectrum mentioned quite difficult. I have locals around me that just have to shut their rigs off when this guy is on the band operating a station hundreds of miles away.

I'm not trying to start a "war" here with this post, but I'm certain I'm not the only one noticing this problem. Too bad this happens every time the band is open.
766 is the boss man of Cali. Arguably on of biggest guns in the country.

"" Arguably on of biggest guns in the country.""

Arguably one of the shittiest stations in the country, many op`s run huge amounts of power, without trashing the entire spectrum.
"If" he get plugged by the FCC, it is entirely his own fault for running a blown out station.
This kind of Op needs to be educated.
If anyone knows this guy, invite him to join the forum.......

It probably wouldn't do any good if he did join the forum except start a lot of bullshit. Just MHO mind you. I do agree about the big power not needing to cause so much interference however. Ten kilowatts of class AB with filtering will not cause as much crap on the bands as even 500 watts of class C crap. Most people cannot understand that as they have no clue nor desire to know the difference. All they can understand is that if they are wiping out the band then they must be getting out good. Others simply want to be the dominator of the bands and due to their own ego and mental issues have a need to deprive others in order to make themselves feel superior. I have no problem with someone running power as long as it is clean and the reason for running power is not so they can disrupt others.

Hate to see it on a spectrum analyzer or scope.
All I can say is he's one top of the superball. It's all about being heard.

As much as I hate dirty stations on the superbowl, at least they are trying to talk. Better than what we've been dealing with on 38 LSB for the last couple of years, with well known idiots on SSB intentionally trying to prevent people from talking.

If the FCC isn't going to investigate people intentionally trying to cause interference you can be sure they aren't going to do anything about people unintentionally causing interference.

Until it effects something important they don't care, 11 meters belongs to the people for the most part. You end up with the freedom to do what you want but without anyone to stop someone else from doing what they want. It's the slippery slope of government oversight vs freedom :)

If there was real freedom in this country the people would take care of that assclown.

Anyone taking a screenshot of their SDR spectrum with this interference?

Good observation. The "public" isn't allowed to take care of public problems.
