All my Yaesu equipment came with a dual fused power cord and recommended direct connection to the battery for BOTH leads.
Same on the ft450d acquired.
when i wire a radio,i prefer to go directly to battery(s) with both wires, heavier than radio leadcwires.i install fuse holders just upsream from battery just incase a wire moves, gets pinched, insulation damaged and shorts out.i put a size bigger fuse up near batterys than radio requires but use what radio requires in its leads.if wire does develope trouble it dont burn up vehicleAnd my newly acquired Kenwood TM-V71A as well. It has TWO fuses in the power lead and Kenwood recommends running power directly to the battery for BOTH leads.
