Uniden Grant LT

Stay away from it. Hacked all to hell. Holes drilled everywhere, stuff in there that shouldn't be. Echo and talkback belong on AM, not in a sideband radio. Don't know why people would want to ruin a good radio like that... it pains me no end. :(

~Cheers~

If you are interested in a Grant, here is one you might be interested in. The guy selling it owns a radio shop (a good one). I bought a radio from an unsaid shop and had a tune up done. I'll keep it simple and say it wasn't a good tune up. I called a warranty facility about fixing my radio. They were busy and referred me on to DTB radio (which is who is selling this particular radio). I sent him my Cobra and he fixed it for me. Before, it was distorted, bleeding into other channels, the wattage was way higher on some channels than others. It was a mess. DTB got it so it strait. It is clear as a bell, even if I am talking to a radio 5 feet from my truck (literally, as I have talked to my wife that close). He did a good job. I would actually be bidding on this radio myself and not have told you about it, but I just bought a Grant and it arrived yesterday and I found this one too late. My loss. I can't afford to buy another one right now.

I agree. The Grant series was great all without getting shredded in some hack shop.

Why do people destroy a wonderful piece of communications equipment. Looks like the auction ended... some sucker bought it :(

Yeah....I want a totally unmolested stock Uniden Grant....one that Billy Bob has not had his "Golden Screwdriver" in.

Man...wish I won that auction....that was a nice one.

Yep....the LT is the last Grant Uniden made.....its pretty sharp with the way it lights up....I wonder if they are made in the Philippines like the XL?

I believe they were. Too bad Uniden got out of the SSB business. I NEVER trusted Cobra, and went with Galaxy when I got back into cb.

I bought one as a spare back up and my Dad used it for a while and it was stolen out of his big rig. Really when you stop and look at it from a cost to benefit stand point you are further ahead to get a 2950DX then to pay like new price or higher for old Uniden Grant XL or LT. They where great CB radio's but too many of them have been hacked to heck by people that really should not be doing anything to a radio. On top of that they normally go for top dollar. You haveno idea what condition they are in. Their is no warranty with them. In my mind it is a bunch of negatives.

My best friend in H.S. got a Cobra 148GTL it had the same board and the Uniden Grant XL. By the time he had the Xpo Xpander installed, had the clarifer unlocked and a 10khz switch installed he could have bought a 2950 and had better SSB performance a lot more functionality and more freq. coverage. I will say this much his Cobra with one final had higher AM and SSB output then my first Generation RCI 2950 even though mine had duel finals.

Plus the AM modulation and audio on a Uniden Grant and an RCI are almost identical both have been modeled off of the old Cybernet Chassis.. SO it really depends on what you want the radio for and how you plan to use it.

But always stay away from hacked to death radio's!
