Just got a grant radio turns on and meter moves on tx and rx, recieves fine but no tx coming out no on can hear me??? is it the final?

if you show tx power output in am mode when you key the mic then how can the "final" be the problem?

Meter moves on TX then there's H.F getting out
Meter moves on RX you recieve.

Use SWR?power meter to confirm if and how much power comes out, use other radio to check modulation.

Just did that meter shows no power (dosy4001) and i used 2nd radio and no modulation ?? my book says might be final or audio IC but i want to be sure before i tear into radio. I did hook up a PA and their is audio their. (( NOTE: NO SSB OUTPUT)) Thanks.

usually if the audio ic 'went', receive sounds scratchy & crunchy too. anyway, slow down & please clarify what's going on-can we assume receiver audio, quality & sensitivity is fine?
for xmit, what exactly do you see on an external wattmeter, AM & SSB? can you HEAR anything on another radio? does radio KEY UP? is mic wired/wired properly?

PA works , your audio chip is GOOD ! ALSO what DaveG said . It would be a wonderful thing if it just turned out to be the mickie phone , Try SSB , Do you have power there ? if so , and not on AM ? could be the AM voltage regulator , that was always a faulty part on those radios (Uniden boarded 148s and such) Nice radio 15 , keep at it and let us know what's up ? Receive is fine nice and clean. meter shows nothing not even a watt. And with second cb there is nothing when i key up mic, but meter on the Grant swings fine. and with a PA speaker plugged in there is audio out of the PA. And when i turn it to sideband upper and lower there is no movement on radio meter. ?? I was using a new mic and even checked the pinning and it wired correct. ? Thanks again.

there is an electrolytic cap in this chassis that, when it goes out, it can cause this sort of symptom.

i read about it online somewhere, but cant find it at the moment.

i think it was C95, but cant be sure.
maybe someone else here remembers what the common caps to go are.
