going by his previous methodology he probably sets the radio to 100% modulation, uses 6 inline modulation meters then gets the total from combining the results, he sounds like a complete tadger, to use a Glaswegian word (google it,lol).

I bet he could show you 40 watts from the 510xl. Once he captured all the leaking wattage of course.

I don't actually know the name of the shop. He has no signs anywhere, no name on a receipt. It just says CB shop. The guy is in Wells, NV. He is good at two things. One, he can build everything for, and professionally install antennas. Excellent work actually.
And two, he is good at hacking up a radio then coming up with lots of stories about how he was on the design team, or his friend was on the design team for that radio.

I stopped at a shop last week to get length of coax. The guy was "helping" another customer. He had a Dosy, and a Bird reading the radio at the same time. I thought I would be a smart ass and asked him why the Bird was reading different than the Dosy. He told me the Dosy leaked wattage and the Bird was there to catch it. Add the two numbers together, and that is your true output on the radio.

I didn't need that coax after all.

Yeah, i would have dropped that coax and walked out the door... laughing of course!!!!!

Seriously, i knew a CB hacker that had a meter he used to show customers how wild thier radios were after he did his thing to them! He used a dosy meter and had an open ended coax in the wall. His bench meter was a Bird. Nobody saw his bench gear because he never let anyone behind the "curtain". LOL

Sounds like of like the same guy in Oak grove, MO that told me one of the ways to drop the deadkey on a Uniden 66/Cobra 25 board was to clip the modulation limiter.
