Possibly the BEST overall site - and Rawles DOES cover COMMS, including Ham, CB, GMRS, and others - is Jim Rawles Survivalblog.com. Because he also knows his limitations, he solicits subject matter experts to chime in, which allows questionable info to be corrected quickly. His archive of info is also easy to search.

While Offgrid Survival focuses more on "roughing it" (in my observation), they did have this handy COMMS post a while back, that might especially be a handy handout for newbies.

Time to weigh in again - How to Protect your Tube and Transistor HF Communications Equipment From E1 EMP Pulse.

Part 1

Part 2

If only it were that simple. The trash can Faraday cage should be grounded for best results. Also the article only deals with antenna connections to the gear but what about penetration of the case itself? There is a reason it costs $$$ for a truly EMP hardened piece of gear.

Here's few places where you want to look for good EMCOMM information:

I don't think I will blindly accept information as being correct and factual from a website that the sites technical "expert" is a Technician class licensee that doesn't even know the difference between A1A, J2b, J2d, and J3E emissions.

QUOTE: "Is it legal to transmit CW over voice in the US? I mean could a Tech Lic transmit the output of this sound card (on 40M, no voice rights for Techs) by holding a mike up to it, or does it need to be sent in CW mode since voice is off limits to the tech."

Dude,

what the hell are you talking about??? The person asking the question is NOT the guy who is running Survival Tech Nord!!! He's a simple beginner member (Jim “K7JLJ” Linch) needing help and asking the question on the Survival Tech Nord Google + page!
