make sure you store that Madison where you can see it. otherwise you might end up going through withdrawals!
Kaos, take a look at building a "half square antenna". It can be hidden really easily, can be fed with 50 ohm coax without any tuner needed, and is meant to be at ground level.
This may or may not be feasible at your location, but it's worth looking into.

I want to do the variable power mod that Sonoma posted in this thread, to my old 8719 president McKinley. I have a 1k pot and bought some tip120 transistors on ebay, and I already have a cheap electrolytic capacitor assortment...so do I just run a wire from the emitter of the tip 120 to l33,and a wire from collector to tp8?
I installed the super talk mod this afternoon it worked the radio didn’t blow up. I’m almost ready now to move up to the title of tweaknician now lol, and charge people $30 an hour to clean people’s base station power cords with acetone and a rag
