Video of Homemade Moxon Rectangle and Uniden 980

W9cll , Yes you are right about that not thinking when I posted that ! There is going to be a lot more involved to hook up a 980 to a mixer ( Not plug an play ) , but I know Hobie some how some way he will figure something out . He might have that radio in pc's trying to do it but if he gets it in his head to do it he sure will give it a try ! The bad thing is I think his mixing board is bigger than his car ! lol

hahahaha good one! I would have to move the radio to the studio downstairs. UGH!!!!!! I've got high end preamps built into the board and enough outboard gear to fill a box truck. You name it, I've got it. It's all prehistoric at this point but it's high end stuff. Ended up switching over to all hard disk recording years back with all processing done in the 'puter.Waves,Cubase,E-Logic, Lexicon and hoards of other top notch studio plugins. Would be cool to just use a compressor, parametric EQ and a good preamp in a small 3 or 4 space rack. Y'all are killing me! it would be hilarious because the radio would look like this little piece of crap with all that stuff sitting there behind it. Too funny!

I think the important thing to take from that video is what you want to be aiming for the audio to be sounding like.

Last night I listened to a pileup on 20m. Lots of Italians running 1.5kW with overdriven booming bassy audio and sod all articulation, the type people seem to go for on 11m, and even though they were S9+40 to me they were quite hard to understand. The DX station, which actually wasn't that far away from the Italians, was having trouble working out what they were saying too spending most of the time having to correct calls with the Italians making things worse by shouting at the microphone even more when he got it wrong.

The one right across the street is called Baker Peak. It's just shy of 3000 feet. Really nice 360 view from the summit. The one behind the house I've done on the 4 wheeler once about 8 years ago. Will never do it again. Came down through what's called the saddle. Boulders the size of VW beetles. Not kidding and that was before hurricane Irene. Can't imagine what it's like now. That is Dorset Peak. It's a beast. I live on the valley floor on the east side.

SLICK setup on the mast and antenna.

Nice job on making your own push up pole. I'll have to do that with one of my antennas.

Thanks. Even though the antenna itself is light it is still a bit of a chore pushing up the 2nd length of tubing and getting the hole lined up for the pin. I trashed my left thumb and wrist several years ago in an atv wreck so it helps to have another hand. Really wanted to go to 4 lengths and would definitely need help with that. pretty solid with the quides attached to 4 foot rebar in the ground. The wind is bad here and the whole thing has very low wind resistance. Works good.
