Depends on what you're getting. If you get an RCI-29XX radio, if you tell them not to modify they will NOT send the E-chip you need for the conversion. Dont have them do any tech work, they are hackers. Be careful.
If Walcott won't send you there-chip for conversion, they would literally have to open the box, remove it, then send it to you. The dealers automatically enclose that thing with the radio.
I'd probably buy from them. Don't mind spending a few extra dollars if I know my stuff is new and not treated rough. Just by watching the video they look like they take their business serious and want repeat customers. I like knowing what kind of place my orders are coming from. Sometimes these Internet stores have fancy websites and look good but in reality it's just an individual selling stuff out of their 400 square foot apartment. Then when you get your package it's all beat up wrapped in 3 different types of paper and two different types of tape and hand written and if you're lucky the mail man can read their writing! Been there done that before. Yep I'd pay the extra money to know what kind of store my $400.00 radio just shipped out of. rather pay $400.00 than $300.00 from someone's basement with a beat up box.
I hate to break it to you, but that extra $90 was what they charged you for labor. I'm not going to argue about whether or not that's fair, but why did you agree to the charge if you thought it unfair?
