Welding with a CB linear

I remember the first time I heard the name Dave Made.it was in the late 70's and have been hearing and reading (here) that his amp were built extremely well (possibly the best).
If that is indeed the case why doesn't someone just build Dave Made?
Why mess with a winning recipe?
The only thing i can think of is the ego of the people building them.
Not everyone can be great.

Actually everyone and their grandmothers were building Dave Made clones for a long time now, problem is availability of the transistors.

I kinda thought it had something to do with the availability of parts or in this case the lack of. Thanks

This guy is only copying the hijinks shown by one manufacturer of the extra-rugged LDMOS RF devices.

NXP posted this video five or so years back:

Motorola posted one, too. Just didn't find the link to that one.

All bbi needed to do is show this clip and mention that it's the LDMOS transistors used in his amps that allow it to withstand the abuse he's showing. He's purposely misleading the viewer into believing that it's his incredible amp building skills that's allowing "his' design is the breakthrough.
He's a nut! And that's what I came away with after viewing his clip.
I'm totally impressed by the 125:1 vswr thrown at the RF transistor in this clip. Amazing!!
