Well my Stryker 955 let out smoke..

You also have big balls saying that what I say is not true.

All you said was, "My friend sends all his radios to Bobs CB in PA. And they all eventually let out the smoke." What does this mean? Your friend has say a power supply set at 15-17 volts? His antenna SWR is crap? He stays keyed down and his radio's get very hot? He has coax or jumper issues? He drives a dump truck that shakes the crap out of all his radio's?

I have owned 3 radio's done by Bob's. They were all Magnum radio's and worked superb. None were hopped way up. As an example the S9 I had was dual 1969 powered and did maybe 30 ish watts. Had a Watergate recorder installed that played audio back nice and clean. Never had a problem with any of these radio's for years. I did sell one to a local and he blew it up in like 3 months. He had several of the issues listed above and smoked 3-4 radio's that year.

I am not saying what you said is not true, I believe you when you say your friend blows radio's. What I question is you implying that Bob's tuned radio's all burn up.

I have dealt with Bob's from when He was in Boston & after the move to PA.
Never got a bad piece of equipment or poor service.
One of the most respected shops in the business & I dealt with many while on the road for 37 years.
If this guy keeps ruining equipment coming from Bob's I'd bet my left nut He is a serious
jerk.

Well it has the seals from bobs cb shop so it is going back to them for repair..
My Strker had Bob's sticker inside. Fla. Is where he's at. But phone number is not good.

I'm sure you have awl the proper implements to bury it. A little formaldahyde into the finals should do it.

I can honestly say, of the hundreds of radios I've owned, opened and messed around with, I've only ever had one go poof - and it did that during testing before I ever touched the insides.

It's actually pretty hard to destroy a radio if you simply don't mess with the power output. You can crank the AMC, adjust the RX etc, etc. and not cause a radio to blow. It's just when people start turning up the power or messing with the coils that they kill radios and in most cases it's completely not needed as they aren't getting a whole lot more power.

The crazy part to me is how many radios from shops end up dying later - what the heck are these techs doing?

This is bobscb in PA.
Hmmmmmm! Found a silver sticker with blue writing inside mine. When looked up it was located in Fl. May be wrong "Bob" I found.

Mine got electroshock therapy from strike and did not survive. Was at 5 to 30 DK and would swing to 130. I miss it.

Any updates on the Stryker?
Still in the morgue. Collecting dust. Working on a T/A has not left much time for anything. Truck is requiring attention. Back seat of truck has filled up with new parts req'd to replace the failing ones. Obvious priorities. Want to send off all three dead radios for repair. Few days I've had off don't corralate with open shippers. Got a big pile of Round-to-it's but life is interfering.

Turning up the output power in a radio is a fools folly! It never does that much for you and it is never as good of an outcome as doing a modest alignment and adding a linear! Radios left closer to stock last many decades.
