What desk mic to use?

That's a niche that hasn't quite been fulfilled in the cb world since the infamous Astatic d-104 variants. I myself have tried many but haven't found one I loved yet. I think the president is in similar shoes as the anytone bunch, not much else can do what the stock electret can do. Those are my findings so far.

Some here do like the Delta desk mics or the zetagi, Ive owned and sold the zetagi but I can't speak on the delta.
I love my Zetagi mic, but unfortunately according to Simon, they have entered liquidation. I can't find anyone that has one in stock.

I use the Yaesu M-1 Reference mic on the electret cartridge.
That's a nice mic!

I really never looked at that one til now. That would work on the Lincoln radio being it needs 5v to power it.

A pricey mic but it's really like you get 2 mics, (condenser and dynamic mic elements) plus EQ and other features but some of those only work on Yaesu radio's.

$670??? about twice the price of a Lincoln radio.

The Yaesu M-100 is a bit more affordable at $440 which lacks the EQ and other features but still has low and high cut filters.

If you want a little more bass from your President or Anytone hand mic, I found that the electret element from a telephone sounds great.

Yea I seen the price and hit the back arrow on my web browser.

Unless you have a house full of little kids or the radio is right next to your TV keep it electrete if you want the best mic for the job. Anything else is like farting in the tub with the shower curtain closed no matter what you ate for dinner it wont smell good!

If you want a better or different electrete then get a different element. The only reason for anything else would be if noise pollution is an issue in the area you want to operate but given the filters and range allowed by the radio again unlikely anything else will be better.

Put a longer cord on it or get an extension cord.

You can modify the radio for better audio but changing the mic is unlikely to do much for you. You have to be able to work with surface mount parts. Assuming you have done this the stock mic is likely to serve you well. No matte what you will not find a better option for fidelity than an electret mic except where noise is an issue.

Maybe think about getting something from Heil maybe a headset and PTT switch. This would give you good ears and a well sorted mic. The PTT would give you convience.

Again not the 1980's or 1990's and not a Cobra!

Four of the locals here are using the Galaxy Echo Master and all four sound great—extremely loud and crystal clear. Even those using some echo. $139 on eBay.
Their radios are a Galaxy 2547, Cobra 2000, Teaberry Model T and a Cobra 25 LTD Classic.

That's a classic right there.
I've often considered the delta m2 because many have praised it. Maybe I'm a tight a55 because I think almost 2 bills is a little high and the reason I haven't bought one.

I can understand that. I really needed a mic with a tone control. By the time you price clean to mint used desk mics or a 575m6 I just decided to buy new.

I have quite a lot of desk mics around here, but only use three base mics. And none of those are desk mics. I use a Hiel "Traveler" headset and a Hiel Goldline in a boom in the radio room. I use an old Radioshack boom mike, or stock hand-mics in the mancave.
I've found most desk mics to be awkward and impractical, given the way I use mics around here.
