WHAT HAPPEN TO ALL THE TECH'S ?

Well I do know most are busy...and in the start RULE of THUMB
never take on to much and NEVER keep a customers item to long
..
being on this forum we should be first in line when fixing stuff or try to :) but thats just me...I know all my local channel guys come first ...
I fix and repair items fast (most of the time) and take the time to call or just touch basics...this is what it is all about...DOn't BS and Take in what you can't handle or you end up a bad TECH with a bad reputation . I have had no problems doing this for 25 years so far(knock on wood) the main goal is ,IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT RIGHT AWAY OR CAN'T FIX IT PERIOD, Call the customer no mater what!
as for most of the tech's that got bad reps here ,I do not blame them one bit for not showing up anymore...some peeps, not saying names or forums...whine to much or post baby BS about stuff
but little does most know to drop a radio off or send it in
is a 25 dollar bench right off the bat...and then labor and parts
its 2007 people you want your stuff fixed pay the price :p

i think it sux when people are stereotyped...i run my business FIFO...no favorites and nobody gets crapped on

You know Lords ? I don't really know how to pump up the machine if you know what I mean. Sure , a few kind words maybe from time to time , but there all Humpty Dumpty's sitting on walls dude , that means they can fall just like so many before or after them. It's the business at hand and the customers that fill it. It's just a chosen profession and the trials and tribualtions that go with it. ;) I can agree with most you had to say. You can't blame them for not coming back ? Being ashamed should come to mind ! but they do come back in other forms. :p It's all good Lords , better them then I . I've met my share of them over the years and I really think that the RF has a way of messing with there minds.....in a not so good way. I worked part-time for a tech at his shop in the early 90s , This dude was on the ball , or so it seemed to me at the time , Had his own line of amps and about 9 people at one time working and building them for him , for me it was great at the time ! I felt like I was at the candy store ! and I was hob-knob'in with the king of his castle ! My God Lords ! He was not a happer camper )-: :( he honestly thought everybody was out to get him , major paranoia dude ! He was a good by the numbers radio and amp man and he surely new his stuff and had it all going for him for years , but it was the business that made him the way he was :( He had no respect for his own customers , sure , he put up with them to a degree , only because they helped to pay his bills. And then he had a way of pissing off some of those same customers , now his paranoia would only grow stronger , always being afraid of being busted by FCC (he was fined twice when I was there ) or some pissed off customer was going to get his revenge ? I left in early 93 , he finally went belly up in mid 95 , He had a fairly good 12 or 13 year run . IM not to sure why his doors finally closed ? but in the end , there was surely a lot of unhappy customers that never saw there stuff again and were out lump sums of cash. once known as one of the finest amp mans in So.Cal gone with the wind. Whatever the case may be Lords ? I don't give a ratts ass what you do for a living , but it sure pays to have some good people skills concerning the ones that are putting the money in your hands. I believe I've met about 6 tech's over the years , they are surely a breed within themselves. What a way to make a living. :?

I do see were you comming with this 100%. 1/2 is a shame and the other 1/2 is a shame....
The catch or secret is, don't let the making, updating or experimenting with stuff pay your shop bills(phone, rent, gas, sales, parts),because you will go crazy with the income varyings from month to month now days..
back then it used to be a great income....now just a hobby...
hell I make more money painting (lake Front property's) and troubleshooting/programming computers then any repair :)
