What is a good price for a full set of Sam's Photofact CB manuals?

PoDuck,
Congrats! Looks like you found a great deal!
If you think you may want to sell one or more of the J.C. Penney mobile SSB rigs, PM me. I may well be interested.

Other than the manuals, I think everything it's going up for sale. Although I don't want to, I may even sell the manuals. I haven't made up my mind.

I'm needing to come up with a spare $1500 in a fairly short amount of time. I had to borrow money from a friend a couple weeks ago for my dad's funeral expenses, and I hate owing money to people.

PoDuck,
Sorry to hear that about your Father.
Completely understand the dilemma with owing money!

Well, I found another set of these. I shot off an email to the guy a few weeks ago, and he finally got back to me. He seems to think that a full set is worth $1400. I was inquiring about this page: http://supersellerpages.com/product/sams-photofact-cb-repair-manuals/

Here is his reply:
Hi Timm,
Sorry for the delay. We have a few fire issues out there that have had me out of normal contact.

To clarify, what I am calling a set is the CB Series that includes CB1 through CB293. With the exception of books 1,2,3, 292, and 293, the CB label is in white. 1-3 are black covers. 292 and 293, are solid off white cover. All are original, but the series set does include three different covers.

A "set" would be 293 books @ $1400 plus shipping @ USPS Media rate to be determined once address and total weight calculated.

It would make it feel sweeter if I thought he was anywhere near the ballpark when it comes to reasonable value. I would believe a set could go for as much as $800, but not much more.

I also like how he describes the covers. Books 1, 2, and 3 are black and white covers, and they changed the style to being fairly consistent until the last couple books, where they went to an off white color. He seems to think that because they have different covers that they were not part of the original set.

The oldest and newest Sam's I have. They have changed schemes a few times over the years. I don't have any older than #5 but understand they are all black covers??DSCI0218.JPG

I'll have to take some pictures of them tomorrow when I get to the shop, but they have black around the edges, and white on much of the face, if I remember correctly.

As far as the schemes they used, all the books I've looked at had a similar look, other than the main color that changed with every issue. The first three issues, and the last two issues were the only ones that I know of that didn't look basically like your number 5. The annoying thing is, the first few issues were larger than the rest, so they stick out a bit.

CB-5 has 13 radios covered. Cover price was $2.95. CB-293 has 7 radios covered in it. No cover price listed on it.

I guess that is how things progressed over the years-less info, more money!!
