What is taking so long?

Its finally official. I showed up on the ULS today. My callsign is KB3VQT if I'm reading the output right. Now I just need to get my shack and antenna setup.
Recived my Callsign,showed up Friday on ULS but I didn't look being I thought it would take longer,just checked and yep KD0NSC is Me......Now just need to figure out how to do the / in 0 when I type on the puter heeheehee....
One way to do that is:
Put the cursor where you want it.
Press and hold the ALT key.
While holding the ALT key, and using the keypad (not the numbers on the top row of the keyboard) type 0216.
When you release the ALT key, you should see: Ø
It's not a zero with a slash, it's a capital "O" with a slash. There are probably other fonts, but I don't know if any of them are available on this forum.
Congrats on getting your call Kilo Bravo 3 Victor Quebec Tango. And you will love the FT-857D. Now go nail that General ticket. With it and the 857 you can work the world.
I take it you guys are electronically filing test results for new hams to get their call signs within a couple of days and if so, why aren't other VEs doing it? Are there fees? Is it a big hassle?

Ours are sent by a laptop. And it's "FREE". It only take a few hours for the FCC to post it on their site after getting the info. Even if the test results are sent in on Monday. It's still posted on their site by 8 pm. As for what other VE's are doing, I can't say. Could be that they don't know about it. But here at the Baltimore Amateur Radio Club we test every month. And our test and classes are FREE also. In fact all of the Laurel VEC locations are "FREE" nationwide. Look for a upcoming test session near you.

For KJ4FEL, KDØNSC and others who might not be familiar with it, the "Character Map" is a very helpful Windows feature. At least in XP, click
START > PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS and finally CHARACTER MAP.
For the more common ones, there's an Alt+ code, four digits that have to be entered with the keypad numbers.
If you're writing in Spanish, you can get the little tilde over the "n": ñ by using Alt+0241. You can pick the font that works best, getting Russian, Greek, Hebrew -- most languages, in fact. Have fun!
Oh - and for the less-common ones, like the backwards R in "Toys Я Us", you have to copy and paste.
