For mobiles you need to take into account the velocity of the cable, but we're talking about base antennas here and on a base station there is no velocity to account for because base stations don't move.
I never really thought about it that way.

For that matter me either CK. I am just hopeful that all truly understand what VF or Velocity Factor is!!
Velocity factor... Its the speed that sound travels through air in comparison to the speed of light...
Well, among other things...

For anyone who stumbled on this thread doing a search for "velocity factor" you're probably looking for something more like this:.... I am just hopeful that all truly understand what VF or Velocity Factor is!!

All joking aside I don't want to lead people astray.
PS: Anyone know of a good base antenna under $135?
I do multiplies of 18'....was hell running 18' jumpers up my 50' tower!
I understood what you were saying StrangeBrew and CK as well, that's the only reason I said what I did.For that matter me either CK. I am just hopeful that all truly understand what VF or Velocity Factor is!!
I was thinking it was one of those reality-TV-show's...Velocity factor... Its the speed that sound travels through air in comparison to the speed of light...

Just relating what I've seen and been told by receiving stations. Only a ___* still imagines a real 6Db per S unit is actually realized from a CB radio meter.Needle bender??? I2K 2 S units over an A99
Super penetrator 1 s unit over the I2K (3 s units over the A99)
Gain master 2 DB gain over the super penetrator ( 3.33 DB gain over the A99)
so the gain master has 18.2 DB gain over the A99.
The gainmaster is better than an beam, considering the A99 has no gain.
You made a very good choice. Take a look at the 2016 in my album.Talked around the world on an antron 99 also I max 2000 and a Siro new tornado, Never owned a Maco v-5/8 but I will say I know a person who has one with a missing radial who gets out like you would not beleive so.......
! maco V5/8
2 Siro new Tornado. ( quiet on the receive compaired to fiberglass )
3 Imax 2000 cant go wrong but put a little nolux or dielectric grease between sections
4 Antron 99 the Ground plane kit brought in olny \more noise for me..
5 Beam if you got the cash rotor etc Maco comet etc
The Sirio 2016 performs well for me. It has better receive than the Imax it replaced. Good to 3KW intermittent duty and handles Ice, wind and snow well.
