What is the Range of a HAND HELD CB?

1,288 Mile 10 Meter Hand Held Ham Radio Contact by WD0AKX - YouTube This probably doesn't happen every day....mother nature helped out along with a 2 1/2 foot antenna.

The way the bands were a few weeks ago something like this would have been easily accomplished but the bands are settling down again so no dice.

Looking for something to do mowing while the lawn
as I mow 37 acres... LOL with only a 46 inch deck lawn tractor
Would I get anymore range with a hand held hooked to a FireStik???

Would this be an an option for lawn tractor???
