What is the SSB mobil CB these days.

it will. even the guy in the desert showed a video from fresh off the griddle drifting.
i think it's more about age and hours of use. people always say a galaxy drifts.
mine only did after beaten to death for 5 years in a 4x4.
and so did my early 90s 148

Does that come with a Purple Haze?

Looks like Snowflakes were busy with their after-Xmas partying this year ...

They group together and form drifts...

But that's for another shovel...

Another reason why it took cars so long to warm up and defrost all those windows...

Owned a 959 and all ill say id stay away from the low end Galaxy's. Drift is an understatement. If you open one up you will see they cheaped out on the pots and other components. Absolute junk.
I would buy nothing but an rci 2950dx for a mobile ssb rig.

I had a Kenwood TS440SAT with matching speaker and MC60 mic. Excellent reports.
With an A99 and. 3 element yagi @ 50', with 100w, if I could hear them I could work them.

I found that an issue also. Other than that its a great radio.

My AT 6666 is easy to see in daylight.

I liked the 980 especially when it goes on sale for $99. Other than the screen, the knobs are cheaply made. Makes me wonder what other parts are cheapened. The 980 noise blanker worked very good. Never got a chance to use it on SSB because of the screen issue.

Personally, I would spend a little more, and buy a President McKinley.

As for modern radios, among the best I’ve heard - subjectively - are Strykers and Anytones (5555 and 6666).

Hadn’t had a QSO far off freq or bad sounding yet.

If a legit CB is what’s wanted...every 980 I’ve heard has sounded great as well...even excellent when paired with a D104M6b or modified stock mic.

I run a pair of Lincoln II+s. Both get excellent reports with stock mic or a D104m6b.
