what kind of mobile antenna?

At the present time I have a Predator 10-K 12 inch shaft on a single 5inch mag. I didn't have to cut the whip at all. The swr is about 1.3 with it mounted a foot in front of the roof rack on the roof. I have had surprisingly good results and the single mag holds it fine.

Ok, that sounds good. I was thinking the roof was fiberglass. I get a swr of 1.1.1- 1.3.1. I had to work hard to get it down that low. I almost gave up several times. In fact I did change antennas for awhile, but I liked how the 10k worked , so I stuck it out. Glad I did.

I have used both the 10-k and the sirio 5000 turbo and I have had better performance with the sirio. Been using it over three years now and would never use anything else.

I mainly use the Sirio for ten meter operations and it's amazing how well it works for DX.

I might look into one of these Sirio 5000's. My 10k draws so much un-wanted attention, that I'm getting pretty tired of it.

Do they make a mount that will mount to my headache rack that you know of?
I'm on 10 meters a bit, and although every contact I have ever made I mostly get the 59 report, but my swr is around 2.2.1. on AM I'm no higher than 1.3.1, so I am interested in this antenna. Italian made though?

Tell me how you mean that about the SWR. Is the difference between bands, or between modes?

Bands. my swr is good on 11 meters, but when I go to 10 meters it jumps up. The antenna is tuned for cb ch 21 at 1.2.1. The 10k is broad banded I guess, and so far it works ok with a swr of around 2.2.1-2.4.1. I coild adjust better for 10m, but I feel it's ok where it's at.

It could be better on 10m for sacrificing a bit on 11m but if where you operate is mostly on 11m and the finals are happy with the SWR on 10m then carry on.

Thanks guys for the info. I should have been more specific when I said just plain 10 meters. I took it for granted that you knew I was was on 10m USB. My mistake, and I can understand the confusion.

Yes I think its doing ok, otherwise I wouldn't run it this way. Don't want to burn up the finals. Cb'ers try to achieve a flat swr, and my Ham instructor insisted that a 2.1.1 for Ham radio is fine.

Why not pick yourself up a couple replacement whips and tune them for the different parts of the 10 meter band? I carry three..One for 11 meters. one for 28.500, and one for 29.500. they get me the coverage I need.

Seems to work great for me:)
