Your not alone, at least. LOLI'm just sick sick w the radio sickness.
Cant see why not. CHIRP is fairly intuitive, as long as you were able to unlock it and have the frequency range available you'll be fine. Here is a question for those who have unlocked their UV5-R for GMRS. I bought a 8 Watt model of the UV5-R and unlocked it for GMRS and am wondering if it is Repeater capable ? I haven't attempted the Chirp programing thing yet for fear of messing it up but have to get off my butt and Git-Er-Done ! LOL
Yes, it is repeater capable. You will have to set the offset (+5 MHz) because it is not automatic. You can do that through Chirp or manually from the keypad. Here is a question for those who have unlocked their UV5-R for GMRS. It remains to be seen if it is truly unlocked. I followed a YouTube video and it acted like the video said in the end but mine is the newer 8 watt model so time will tell. But thanks to the 2 of you for the encouragement. Now we just have to see what kind of mess I make of it. LOLYes, it is repeater capable. Yes I bought a Baofeng AR-5RM 10 watt same reason lol. Then I rapidly blew bunch more on slew of various other gear lolPS. I just bough it because it was cheap and I just wanted to listen an learn to see what kind of activity was going on before I invested more into GMRS.
