whats inside a gainmaster

amazing how something that looks so simple in a pic is so difficult to copy .

i took a few pics of the inside the with shrink wrap removed, it was a rush job & battery went flat, i will take more when i get chance.

thanks go to my buddy al for stripping his gainmaster (y)

Bob, what happened to the black radiator wire in the image below? It looks like the red coax is running both ways from this point. Isn't this the junction for the coaxial capacitor, which I see in the images?

That is confusing, here is a larger view.
Is he planing to take the shield off of that side Bob ?

jeff,

the top pic you posted shows how sirio connected the rg303 matching stub part way down the lower half of the dipole, the botom pic is the feedpoint,

the red coax is something i have not seen before, the center insulator has a black sheath over the white insulator,
it could be carbon loaded for electrostatic shielding, it could also be changing the vf which changes where the stub needs to be connected to mach the feedpont mismatch of a 5/8wave dipole,

we aim to take it apart and analyse it to see what characteristics it has compared to commonly available coax.

Thanks for the clarification. I see what is going on now.

Strange that Shockwave never mentioned anything about this black material in his presentation for how he modified his GM to increase the power handling.:confused::confused::confused:

It just goes to show, that if you guys don't ask questions, you might not be getting the straight skinny you think you are. (y)

people have been getting rich on coax for years, not exactly a new concept, but at least they are getting rich from an original design that shows a lot of thought went into it and not the same old regurgitated crap others get rich from.

i like my old regurgitated crap (y)
i've yet to make the first buck off it let alone get rich though :(
