What is up with AM traffic ???
Just got back from 7 days in ST. Augustine FL and monitored CB down & back during daytime. I heard little to no chatter @ all, not even truckers, what has happened!!!!!!!!!!

I drove Interstate 70 today between Columbus and Zanesville, OH. Very busy and chatty. If I lived along that corridor, I'd likely have tons of truckers to talk to.

But that'd get old real quick.

The intersates are pretty quietfor the most part. Until you get near the city or a major interchange, or traffic jam,
then they all seem to

Interstates 78, 80 and 95 have been pretty quiet in my neck of the woods lately.

Interesting you brought this up. I just got back from vacation. We drove from MI to Avon, NC, about 1000 miles each way. Except for the truckers I didn't see even one CB or ham radio antenna on a vehicle except mine of course. There was almost zero chatter channel 19 except for the occasional radio check. I think the cell phone has taken over.

Yep there are a few pockets of operators that I have made contact with while traveling but for the most part channel 19 is hard to get a radio check these days! Cell phones have definitely taken over. Most drivers use bluetooth devices and talk on the phone. Didn't make it all the way to Port Orange I take it triple nickel. One day when you get down my way make sure to give a shout or pm me! Hope the trip was good and all is well. God bless.

Locally, Channel 19 used to be the busiest channel both night and day but lately it has been eerily quiet.

Thanks for the shout out, we were not able to make it to Aunt catfish & your area, just ran out of time. I see you been really busy, keep up the challenge. 3's to you/your's, we'll catch up with you hopefully soon.

Boy ain't that the truth. Can call out across the median to opposite running traffic for whatever reason, 1 maybe 2 out of 10 trucks will comeback. I don't know if its cell phones, they don't have their radio on, maybe they don't even have a radio. Or maybe just scared to talk on one. Whatever the reason, its pathetico_O

They have the trucks turned down(speed and horsepower) to where they are a hazard, why would they even bother turning on the radio. They only turn on when they come to a stop and want to know why.
