Where to send Magnum 257HP for repair?

Have a Magnum 257HP in nice condition, was owned by a good friend who passed away a few years ago. Radio has an intermittent problem where power output will drop to 0. I noticed that when I loosen one of the screws on the bottom cover, it doesn't seem to act up. With the bottom cover off, if I squeeze the sides of the chassis together, the power drops out. It seems like there's some sort of mechanical issue with a broken solder joint or something, but everything looks good. Retouched a couple solder joints that may have looked questionable, but I can still replicate the problem when squeezing the sides. At this point, I don't want to screw anything up, so I'll leave it to a pro.

I would like to get this radio repaired to 100% since it was my buddy's, and need to find a good, reputable shop to send it to. I know not everyone can/wants to work on Magnums. Anyone have a good shop to recommend? Sent Clays' an email via their website form, but still haven't heard back.

Thanks, and stay safe!

Ontario Radio Shop (California) - Chris Holland. They were (or maybe still are) the authorized service center for Magnum radios.

Just checked and the name has changed. It's now Superior CB - https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Electronics-Store/The-Radio-Shop-168312423178778/

I can't vouch for the new business - but I dealt with the Ontario Radio Shop many times over the years without problem. I always wonder though when companies suddenly change their name.

Thanks man, I'll shoot them an email and see what they say. You in Hawaii? I'm over here in Waianae.

I have sent my Magnum s45 over to the Ontario Radio shop twice over the last 7 years or so, each time the service was excellent. It is strange that they have changed their name though.

As far as Clay's, they do great work, but the owner is not a fan of the Magnum products. I initially took my radio to them but they were not able to repair it. If I remember correctly it was because he didn't have the schematics at the time for it.

Got an email back from Ontario, they seem responsive and respectful, based on their response to a couple questions I asked. I'll box up the radio and get it out this week.

Thanks for the leads guys!
