Just got a mint condition cobra 148gtl, no mods and untouched inside, not even scratched. Because of age it needs an alignment. Who does excellent work and i wont have to wait a month to get it back.

Anybody who is worth a flip is going to be buried in work and it will take time to get one through their shop. Do not send it to any clowns will try to talk you into a "Super Whack Pack" power tune up. If you want extra power run an amplifier. A virgin Cobra 148 GTL is almost enough to make me open my shop again. Be sure they provide proof that there is no Six Meter emissions. That proves that no body did a "Power Tune" on it.

Ok, yea dont want no peak and tweak or any of that crap. Just a good alignment is all it needs. Clarifier has to be at 10 o clock, its low.

I sent an old silver face 8719 president mckinley, to oldtech3 to have a full alignment done to it. he’s a member here on the forum. I’m happy with the work he did, and he had it less than a month, if I remember right. I don’t know how busy he is right now, but you could message him and see.

It amazes me someone would suggest that when you’re asking for recommendations.
Not amazing at all, most radios can be alined with simple stuff and other stuff can be found if you look. The only reason I suggested it is because many are afraid to try when with the proper documentation it can be done. If the OP really feels they can't do it then fine but it's worth asking. Sorry that my simple asking offended you but I get it.

Not “offended” by any stretch of your imagination.

Radio transmitter and receiver alignment is very easy to do. But like i said i dont have the absolutely needed gear anymore to do it right. Frequency counter, audio and rf signal generator analog scope.

Whistle away..

You really think he should perform an “alinement” with “stuff” and “other stuff”?

He’s asking for a recommendation, FCOL.

Sorry for the edit...quoting these words you used takes multiple tries to get past autocorrect.

I just hope he gets it “alined

The basic adjustment can be done easily. I only suggested it but for some reason, it seemed to annoy you (or choose another word ) then you choose to make it personal. I never realized that answering a question with another option was wrong but it must be in your world. Yes, he was asking for a recommendation, and mine was to try it himself. Anyway enough is enough... 73 Danny. have a great night.
