Who Else Is Fed Up With "Mud Duck Radio"?

Am I the only one that thinks he and his radio sound unremarkable? Sounds like a CB with a plastic hand mic to me. With all of the stand out stations you hear today with monster asymmetric audio, wideband SDRs and computer based processing, he doesn't even register as "wow" when I hear him. Not trying to champion the latter, just surprised every time I hear someone talk about how good he sounds.

One heck of a perfectly planned sales pitch

Like many other gimmicks, it has taken the spokesman, hypeman and group of misfits to spread the disease and have everyone believing it. It's a false radio gospel with many having been duped.

The relentless radio sales pitch and followers have led many down the path of worshiping the so called tune that only "the competent one" can do. Many believe it, but those of us that know to think critically see right through it.

It's a dog eat dog world these days, long gone are the days men respected each other and stayed in their own lane.

Ol' Shi+man can't use any of those cool toys because he's badmouthed everyone that uses them.

If one wants to know why he singularly focused on trolling the airwaves, it's because stryker changed the design of their radios after he told everyone that he ONLY works on strykers anymore.

His business took a SERIOUS hit and now he has lots of free time to "get back at" the CB radio community that moved on and left him in the New Mexico dust.

He's really backed himself into a corner and has no way out.

i would say that i pity him, but i really pity his dog more.

Yes, I'm speaking of Mark Sherman, dba Fine-Tune CB Shop out of New Mexico at the moment. Yes, he's got a good-sounding radio. Yes, he's got skills. But for the love of all things decent, respectable, and even just remotely nice, I am beyond sick and tired of hearing his incessant and generally-nonsensical ramblings all over the band! Shutting down channel 19 as much as possible with his arrogant and narcissistic repetitions seems to be his favorite pass-time lately. I've had more customers than I can count come in and complain about this, and there seems to be no solution at all. He's hurting the CB business in general with all his spouting since many simply would rather not have or use their CB radio than be subjected to Mark's lunacy on the main information channel. I'm obviously not the only one who shares this sentiment, as this Youtube video and its comments bare out (). I'd love to hear other comments about this problem, and any ideas for a solution.

Good sounding radio? Should, it's an out of the box radio unless what I heard was true and he actually got the radio from Snake Radios.

Skills? At what? Being a troll or a moron? It's certainly not repairing radios. Maybe you mean lying and slandering, he's pretty skilled there.

Ah yes, his rantings... of how you must have a faraday cage and a certified, calibrated equipment. See, you need a landscaping trailer, that's his version of a faraday cage and if you look closely at his videos - his certificates are expired. Amtronix is hardly NIST traceable too - look at what an actual NIST traceable lab is and how those calibrations are done.

MotorMouthMaul was just being nice by offering his help on Sherm's amp setup, without John - the great Sand Jawa wouldn't be heard like he is. I'm almost convinced that he did indeed get someone to purchase a radio from Tim, if not from Tim... had to be from D Rail.

True. Let us all remember that a small donation to the ASPCA might actually #savemofo from the torment of the Skippy peanut butter and what Sherman actually does with it.

Had some time to hit the NM Secretary of State website this evening. They allow you to search by either the name of a business or by who it's principle officers are. No results for the advertised business name or for the supposed name of the proprietor as given.

There was a Fine Tune, Inc., but they went out of business in 2012 and a completely different name for the principle so most likely not the same entity.

So, um, is the dude paying his state required taxes?

I'm sure the nice people at tax.fraud@state.nm.us could probably check their records and find out.

Maybe we all just need to pay attention.
This is exactly what everyone needs to be doing, paying attention to what he's saying and "showing", which is much of nothing.

Let's start with his "calibrated test equipment" which is only the HP/Agilent 8920B (obsolete), that's the only piece he waves his expired paperwork all about in his videos. He said there was 900 pages in the manual that you had to read and understand in order to be able to use it, there are in fact 664 pages if you count the index - 642 if you don't. It's outdated, obsolete & antiquated technology.

His rambling about a spectrum analyzer and how it's a must you plug directly into it, no attenuation. What he fails to realize about the piece of equipment he read some fictional 900 page manual about is this : it has one built into it. It samples the input signal whether he's testing the transmitter or using the spectrum analyzer function. Maybe he needs to zonk out on shrooms again and re-read that non-existent 900 pages, again.

He says that digital scopes are worthless yet he's using an old, tired and worn analog scope... with no sticker showing calibration... showing no settings, remember - if they don't show it - they don't know it. All he can use that scope for is to view a modulated carrier, he can't use it for any other function or use (he can't repair a radio, just sell new ones). He doesn't use a digital because 1) he can't afford a high-end scope and 2) he doesn't know how to use one most importantly.

His function generator, while the Titanic was sinking, I think he stole it right before he punched some woman and her kid to steal their seat on the lifeboat. It has no fancy (useless) sticker of calibration linked to the JC of the Radio Gods (NIST) and we've seen no fancy paperwork on it either (it doesn't exist).

Where are his certificates of calibration on his slugs for his meters? I do believe Bird says those need a yearly calibration if used often but I'll give him a 2 year break on that - so where's the biannual calibration proof of those slugs?

Let's not forget his degree from the online electronics college - this is how legends are made...

Also, it's worth mentioning that he's WAY above sea level out there. He's on flat land with virtually no man-made interference considering he's out there in the sunny, beautiful vacation land of the Jawa's - the desert. Oh, y'all remember him getting up on the mountain but saying he was on flat land? Or the walkie-talkie BS where it was about 10 miles and line-of-sight while using his base antenna?

He's got his height above sea level, atmospheric conditions, 10-15KW of amp power (driven by an Ameritron) and an antenna that's up there - it's a lie of it being a few measly feet off the ground. He claims not to bleed over but he does, check it sometime when you've got him at S9 or greater - I've got it recorded.

There's guys out there outtalking him and sounding MUCH better, MotorMouthMaul, Mustang131, RepoMan... just to name a few and the list goes on. There are guys out there working on radios and some just tinkering, they have more up to date and actual calibrated equipment than that con artist does. There's guys out there that have forgotten more than the Sherminator has learned from his online genius degree in a Cracker Jack box. He's a con, a hack at best - projecting what he really is and does onto others in an attempt to destroy their reputations and their business. If he was 1/2 as good as he thinks he is, if he was the ONLY one in the nation... the world... that can "make" a Stryker right - why hasn't Shawn contacted him and enlisted his "vast knowledge" to make the product better? Shawn did and the V2 was born but it wasn't the Jawa that was questioned or probed... his emails and voicemails go unanswered and straight to FILE 13. Remember the video... demanding that Shawn contact him and provide him with information on the V2 955? HAHA, what a moron...

Mark Sherman... a legend in his own mind. Claiming 40 or 50 years of driving experience, guess he started driving a truck at 10yrs old. Multiple millions of miles driven... impossible. Millions of radios repaired, hacks removed... new methods of tuning and receiver sensitivity innovations - all while driving millions of miles... yeah right.
