Wanted to give an update:
Still running barefoot with just the radio and a Lil Wil.
Night and day performance difference between this radio and the Midland 79-290 / firestik cellular look alike antenna setup it replaced.
Midland was noisy as all hell and I made very few contacts.
With this radio, almost anyone I hear and talk to can hear me and it is quiet. No ignition noise, and no 6 pound of atmosphereic noise.
Realize the antenna helps, but I did try the radio with the old antenna with basically the same result. Either I got a bum midland or this radio, with Premiere's tune is just that much better.
Mark me as satisfied!
