hello coily, i am in no way knocking your new antennas i am 3000+ miles from you guys and as yet no coilys have made it to yorkshire england as such i am in no position to comment on your product but i can comment on the 10k because i have two of them and my buddy has one, so far we have had no problems at all, they seem strong and light and work better than anything we can buy in the uk that you can actually use when mobile, i wont say one product is better than another unless i have tested it myself, i am a skeptic not a follower of fashion, i take all the magic antenna hype with a pinch of salt and theres plenty of that to wade through around the forums, dont take me defending my 10k as a personal attack on your antennas ( its not ) we all know there will always be heated debate over cb products with all parties thinking they are right thats just how it is in cb land, good luck with your new range of products, 73's

Hello Bob you seem like a fair guy and i am sure you can read between the lines. In here i am always under attack and to tell you the truth it just bounces off me 8) No big deal, if they want to try jump up and down thats fine ;) i say what i want and they don't like it,I would simply like to say i am not knocking the 10k i really thinks its a good antenna,Not as good as mine but its close. Now with that said i would be more than willing to send you a coily single coil-18" shaft DX antenna on me think of it as a gift from the top builders. If you can find one single flaw in my antenna! Beside the fact that it is a bit heavier due to the solid shaft and coil section i would be amazed, you can check it out and keep it!
Thats how well my antennas are built and thats why i am under constant attack.Because if and when the word gets out that i am what i am,then they will lose business and thats the only reason i can find for there childish antics.Anyway have a good day,,,www.mrcoily.com.......They call me! Dan the antenna Man!.........Like that great big coil base you have bet it work great! Thanks for the flowers on the new products as i put alot of effort into doing them right..73sss and the best to yours.May the truth be with you!

Mr.Coily...If you want to send me, your very best antenna, that will work the best on a Burb...I'll be happy to post the results of what I find...On "ALL" the Forums...But beware, I find it hard to belive that there is a antenna out there, that can be any better than the 10K. But if yours is made better, or does work as good, or better than the 10K, then I will say so. And switch to the Coily...JJD

You were saying something about a "18 inch shaft". Useing a 27" shaft on my 10K, I got alot better results, than with the 17" shaft. Would think that would be the same with yours. Longer shaft= better results...(lower swr settings, and better ears, and DX) right?

sure mrcoily if you dont mind me testing your 18" single against my 22" p10k i would be very happy to give it a try, i also have a 27" 10k but prefere the 22" as a ridearound antenna as the stinger is longer more forgiving when i hit a tree, if your confident your 18" single dx antenna ( i like singles ) is going to be comparable to my 10k as a ridearound antenna then lets do it pm me, thanks.

Dan, I run a 12 inch single predator 10k. It is around 78 inches tall from bottom of antenna to tip of whip. I am using it on top of my Ford pick up truck on a Valor(Astatic) tri mag mount with good results. Swrs around 1.2-1.3 to 1 on the CB band. What Mr. Coily would you suggest to try and why?

A few months ago FG Best was sponsering an antenna test with different antennas. I did not see the conclusion of that test. The prelims were in and it suggested that the 10K single was testing better than the double. And that both of them were doing better transmit and receive than a Wilson 5000 Trucker. I wondered whatever happened to that test?

I don't know why so many on this forum and others are bashing you. It is a shame. I am sure you and Kale make great antennas. Is one better than the other, maybe, but they certainly are both good antennas. I believe competition is good for us consumers and for those of us who sell as well.

Hey people, both Dan and Kale are offering a lifetime warranty. What have you got to lose?

Thanks, Ben

I have got a Mr. Coily on the way and when I receive I am going to give my opinion on it and my Predator 10 K single coil 12 inch. Hey, both are great antennas. May the best built antenna win!!!!!

Performance difference in coil Antennas I think has many variations. They all work. Because their must be 200 to choose from right now. Personally my favorite has been the 10K's. Even though the Tram and Browning antennas work very well for the money.

I like the new Brownings and Trams as well. Good for the money. They are a little heavier though. There are some inexpensive coil antennas that don't look like they would last. Also remember that the heavier antennas put alot of torque on the mount. There are many names worth looking into. Mr. Coilys, Predator, Big Johns, Monkey Mades, BBs, 55s, Whisky Stills, etc. Some are built better than others and have a lifetime warranty, the Monkey Mades. Coilys, and Predators fall into this category maybe others. I am not sure of the others. Competition is good. It makes the manufactures make a better product. Customer Service is important as well. I have noticed that there is alot of misinformation on this and other forums. I am not sure if it is people misleading others on purpose or they just don't know or they are keeping trade secrets. Hey share some knowledge and enjoy the radio hobby and stop hiding and not answering questions. I do have a part time cb radio business. It is not my main source of income. And I don't know everything like some of the so called "Radio Gods" on this forum! Amen!

cbshack, if you run this test you need for both antennas to have the same amount of coils, the same shaft length and each one tuned for the vehicle. A 12" shaft 10K is not to be used on the trunk of a car. This test won't prove much which ever one "WINS". Some of the 10K's are designed for local and some for long distance. Kale

cbshack, you stated that you were getting 1.2 to 1.3 swr with that 12" shaft 10K right? Thats what I was seeing with mine also, when I ran the 12" shaft...Try useing a 22" or 27" shaft!

With the 22" shaft, I was getting 1.1 across all 40 cb channels, and with the 27" shaft, over half the channels are 1.0, nothing over 1.1....lower reflect, more broad-band, just about same height. Unless you go with the Dual Coil, then the height drops some...but not performance.

You need to give a longer shaft a try. Mag mount will still hold it, thats what I used before someone talked me into drilling a big hole in the top of my $40,000 Suburban!:Q Talk to Kale, He will probably just send ya one, if you want one.;)

I understand that the coils and the shaft length need to be close in length. Just like the overall length I would think. I wonder how the 17 inch shaft single coil would do matching swrs? One really can't complain about 1.2-1.3-1 swrs. I am using a Valor(Astatic) tri magnet mount on the top of my Ford Explorer. I was told by one of Kale's Distributors that the 12 inch or the 17 inch would work well in this config. I was told that the 22 inch or 27 inch would be suited more for a tool box or a mount behind the cab window on a cfe mount or something similar. The distributor I am talking about is John from Texas and I was going on what he told me. I will try my best to give each antenna a fair run. Hey it might be a tie. I am thinking it will be close and my conclusion will be that both Dan and Kale make a great product. I can say this that the Predator 10K has better receive and transmit than my Wilson 5000 magnet mount. I don't think that surprised anyone.Hey Kale did you get a new account or is someone pretending to be you? Thanks for a great product and great customer service.

I am going to do a test similar to what Uncle Jim did awhile ago. I was going to test a 102 inch whip, Mr. Coily, Predator, and a Wilson 5000 Magnet mount mounted on the top of my pick up truck.

JesseJames, Do you have a radio business in Dallas? I was recently in Kyle outside of Austin.

I probably should...got enough of my own stuff I could just open up the barn, and put a sign out front that say's "Jesse's CB Barn"... But to answer your question...No. Just been playing around with them for the last 30+ years...

And saying that, thats why I dont belive there is a antenna on the market, that can equal or beat a 10K. There are alot of antennas on the market however, that perform as good as a 10K however...But draw-back will be, either they weigh more, or there flimsy built...Or there just plain down right too expencive.

In most case's, If you take a 10K, and another antenna, built the same way,(open coil design) with the same shaft lingth, you will get about the same results. Where the 10K will come out ahead however, is the thing dont wiegh hardly nothing!

As for the 22" and the 27" shaft 10K's go, Yes Kale did design those for tool box applacations, but they work fantastic on the roof! However...over all hight of a 27" shaft 10K, and a 12" shaft 10K, is about the same. Only difference is the 12" shaft antenna will have a longer stinger, than the 27"...

This gives the antenna more flexability if you hit something.
That being said. You just have to get the feel of how high your antenna is sticking up, when you drive under something low-hanging like tree limbs or drive-thru's. The shorter stinger on a 27" shaft 10K, is not as forgiving as the longer one's that the 12" shaft 10K's use.

But by getting the coil as high as possible, greatly improves the swr, reflect, and recive.

IMO- If your going to use a 27" shaft, on top of a car or truck, you realy need to use the "Dual Coil" 10K.(this is the only way to reduce the hight, without sacraficing performance)

Now I'm back quite...JJD

I guess it's a new account. When my computer was down for several days, it came up like that.
