Why No Spring DX?

I have been into CB since the mid 70's or so, but all as a trucker or local base talker. Only talked skip a few times after I got my Texas Star and sitting in rest areas. For some reason it was just an oddity and it never dawned on me at the time that people did this as a hobby. I knew about the solar cycles, but it just didn't affect me in any meaningful way at that time. So somewhere along the line I had the idea it was like a door opening and closing. It's good to know there is still plenty of time.

Must have been another 169. I know there is one over in Minnesota. I am just listening on the Yaesu right at the moment, the tubes are cold. I did try a few times earlier, with the Kenwood, but it has been a few hours.

All I hear are some whistles and carriers and static. Been the same all day, even though the SFI numbers look good enough. That's what makes it so confusing.

There has been some good conditions up to your area this past 3 wks. I have talked a couple of times to a friend just 9k east of Athabasca. Also several times into Edmonton and up around Whitecourt.

Late last night, about 10pm, I was on a chat and someone said they were getting skip on 38. So I turned it on and heard some and listened for a few minutes, then flipped on the heater. Just about the time it was getting settled down, the lightning started, so I had to shut it down.

Been listening on and off all day and finally got some coming in here from the South, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana and the Lone Star. Sure sounds good to know the radio isn't broke.

Klondike Mike, your comment falls in line with what I have been learning from all the space weather I have been studying, about the further North you go, the worse the propagation during magnetic storms. People further South had skip long before it gets to us.

With the angle of the sun at this time of year, I can confirm that as well from my location here 500 miles north of Montana.

Hello Larry, surprize, surprize, I'm hearing some stations on 38LSB up/down the west coast today. I'm glad mother nature heard my complaining. Checking my log book, it's the Pacific Northwest that usually shows up at this time of the year.
