Wilson mag

I have a Sirio 5000 on both my SUV's and I really like them better than my old Wilson 1k's for transmit and receive.

Don't count on the fold over saving your whip though. The whip on the Sirio is tapered and very thin at the top.I was fine all winter long, but whacked a tree limb at 60 this past week and it folded over sure enough. The last foot and half of whip still bent around like a curly Q. I will say I have bent Wilson whips as well, just not to that extreme. It was easy enough to straighten, but I'm sure it will be easier to bend now that it's been whacked once

I had been running it on the drivers side and may switch back now that summer is here. I know not the ideal placement, but bent antennas seem to be a recurring thing with me.

I don't find the Sirio any easier to remove than Wilson. You still have to unscrew it, but with the Sirio I don't have to keep up with a weather cap like I did for the Wilson.

Wow a 60 mph whack!!! I hit some low twig branches at 30mph but nothing like you.

You can get a replacement whip for it if it’s totally thrashed. I just take the antenna off and leave the base on when removed.

I will say is that the weather gasket is junk. Warps easy and has a gap around the edges. I made my own neoprene gasket and wrapped it with Temflex and super 88.

Yeah most of my trips are on state roads so the low hangers get more common in the summer.

I leave the base as well, so no weather cap

Thanks for the idea about the gasket. Both mine seem ok now, but I've got some neoprene if they need replaced

Not many low lying trees around here...wish there were more trees.

I had mine since September and the heat really beats on the gasket here in SoCal. It heats up, shrinks and the base loosens.
