wilson silver tip antenna woes

its my fault but anyhow i bought a new black silver tune wilson 5' antenna for a big truck . i used it maybe 6 months n got a diffrent job.
i laid the antenna in the side rail in my shell camper on my pickup. after 2 years of shaking n sliding in that rail it now has the black plastic cover wore into the copper wires.
any suggestions on what to use to protect the wire? no black tape either.

A roll of heat-shrink should take care of that. They make different types (thicknesses) and colors.
