Wow!!! Galaxy LC 998v most expensive export?

Less mismatched transistors= less IMD out of the box.
Sounds logical anyway.

I have very little experience with mosfets in rf use. I am very familiar with them in power supplies and in car audio gear. I have never seen anyone match mosfets before. I would love to see someone do it though. I have to wonder how many you would end up having to test to get say 4 in the same ball park?

i have a few mosfet amps i built before mosfets were cool. i have a 1 driving 4 and a 2 driving 8. i built them and never used them

I dont understand why someone would buy this? At this point just buy a FT-450D. it seems like a lot of hassle and expense. 900 dollars!! shit you can get an ICOM IC-7200 or FT-450D for less. and you can program in your 40 channels and have all the extra channels you want. I really do not understand. Those galaxies drift like hell.

This is probably as pricey as it gets for a mass produced export.

So easy to separate a fool from his money! LOL....Paying $1200 for that over glorified CB with cheap Chinese bjt's is an automatic IQ test fail! Get a real amateur HF rig for that sort of money! LOL You would be much better off getting an 2950DX or CD and a separate amp 2-4 transistor with name brand BJT's in class AB setup!

Truth be told in the current market if you absolutely do not need to have a RCI2950 the Anytone AT-6666 can be had for $230-$250 new and untouched. If you a are patient you can get a great deal on a 2-4 transistor amp. You could put together a much better setup for the same or less money depending on how good you are at shopping around and haggling. You would also have more mounting options that way. Finally if one part of the system goes doen you are not missing a radio and amp while out for repairs you would just be missing one piece of gear not 2.

I do not even understand why anyone would want a radio with a built in amp like that. That just seems like the worst design ever. You end up with a huge package that is hard to mount in modern vehicles. Not all of us are driving white pedophile vans and Suburbans. I drive a Camry primarily and the wife drives a Saturn neither of those vehicles is Buba all in one RCI mammoth radio chassis approved! LOL

Lester's beast is not even an engineered system it is a collection of parts and pieces that has ZERO engineering behind it. It is a Franken radio at best.
