Agreed. I shipped to him in a USPS flat rate box. I have a stack of their free boxes so that I don't have to make a special trip each time for just the box.

Walmart stores usually only stock the cheap little Cobra 19 Ultra but I emailed you a link to a 520 and a center load Tram antenna from Walmart.com for about $65.00 with free shipping. Should be good enough for what you want to do.

Appreciate the heads up there, that is an excellent price for exactly what I'm looking for. Now just needs to come back in stock, haha.

Here is one of Walmarts cheapo CB antennas that should work for your half mile range. I used one with my GE handheld with success and talked over a longer distance than that. Maybe you could use it with a Cobra 19 Ultra which Walmart usually stocks. But beware sometimes the CB is addictive and you end up upgrading. I'll check on shipping cost.

I agree with you, that's why I bought a 520 but if it isn't in stock and you don't know when it will be and you want one soon you have to look at your options. Not everyone has deep pockets for high dollar radios especially if they are helping a friend.

I actually bought 5 radios from them and I can't remember how antennas. I use my re loadable gift card and shop from my computer and it is shipped to my door. Good luck
