XFORCE 1x4 question about turning off driver pill

Your just buying a copy of a copy so just copy you own for half the cost.

Who really knows where ANY of the 2879s are made anymore since the Chinese are thieving trash.
$900 for an x force 8 pill, I wonder how business is.

The hobby does seem to be dying but the same thing that happened to sweep tubes is happening to the 2879 now. Fortunately dei is producing them but for the cost I'd rather look into other options. I suppose mosfets are the future.

It's actually very unfortunate that DEI destroyed the market by flooding it with counterfeit MRF454 or 492 equivalents marked as 2SC2879's. I'm not saying they actually took good quality Motorola parts and remarked them. They took some other crap they had on the shelf that works just like a 454 or 492 and renamed it.

The sad part is Advanced Semiconductor Inc was positioned to continue production of the 2SC2879 under Toshiba's original specifications. The lying thieves in China have managed to destroy yet another good product because they are allowed to get away with anything and there are NEVER ramifications.

There are no government regulations on anything in china and it's only going to get worse.

Thank your lawmakers who get paid by lobbyists.

Yep. Psycho and 359 are dead spot on.

The U.S. will continue to let it happen because we are darn near owned by China now, with all the debt we have with them, plus the trade embargo/agreement or whatever they call it. Sad but true reality.

~Cheers~

That I almost expect and can accept. What is completely irresponsible is that it seems our government has no regulations at all regarding imports from these untrustworthy sources. Everyone capable of doing anything about it has turned a blind eye while China kills everything from our businesses to our pets.

The Chinese poison disguised as pet food was interesting to watch our government not react to. They claimed they knew the poison was coming from pet food from China but didn't know what brand. It requires the highest degree of incompetence to not have the balls to send every ship with pet food on it right back to China and let them figure it out!

Ok, I'm saying your wrong or that I disagree but I have been hearing this same shit for 15 years.

Additionally, they have made 100% certain we will never get a chance to elect officials capable of serving the people again. They don't even take the time to provide lip service anymore cuz they know we know it's all BS. Furthermore, I think all lobbyists should be burned at the stake for being so useless and destructive to society.

I suppose mosfets are the future.

Yes they are, and there are much better devices to be put to use that are rugged beyond real and make huge amounts of power.
You need a 50 volt power supply.
Great for a Base.
But not so user friendly to be just plug n play in a mobile.

We are talking about 11 meter amps here soooo
With the 2879`s the 11 meter guys could abuse the dog snot out of them and they would take it.
They became the main transistor for the key down guys and they were cheap enough, and everyone wanted Toshiba transistors.
You could over drive them and volt them to 20, sometimes 21 volts and they lived.
It almost turned into Mystical Toshiba Voodoo watts.

Now, most 11 meter ops think if it doesn't have non-dot 2879`s, its no good and they have driven the price of solid state amps sky high.

Most of the MOSFET cb style amps I have seen are still not running real rf devices in them and have poor gain and other issues.

The hobby does seem to be dying

I do not think the hobby is dying, there is enough activity to plug up the band when the dx is rolling and demand is good enough for retail shops to be selling radios.

Admittedly, after reading this, I'm in the process of converting my 2x4 base amp over to straight 4 pill, rewinding the input transformers so it can be made low drive. I'll just remove the driver section of the amp entirely.

~Cheers~

If you convert the 2x4 to a straight 4pill, depending on radio. It will still do good watts. If you change the turns, you will have to retune the input and possibly the output.
