Yep for sure. Thanks for posting the link. I tried to attach it but it is too big to upload. Maybe someone that has a good version of Adobe can split it in half for us or something.
I am not sure about the whole modification, I bought a 102 from @cbkidd1 and the modification was already done. Maybe he can provide some information. There is a diode or something that goes on the frequency readout so it will read 27 correctly. I don't know if there is something done to the transmit side, but I assume there is.Yep for sure.
Any info on getting this radio to work well on 11m? I have 2 of them. One was modified and if i recall it is on 27 when it shows 29 but maybe only a few milliwatts out. My other one had been malcolmized. They work great on am . I got them for am on 40m and 80m
Then why are you talking about it?I took a break from the hobby since we were at the low point of the last sunspot cycle. Haven't been on the forum much lately. Back now for good. There is no way I would ever add those mods to an FT-102. There are two ways I myself would only use to add 11 meters to the FT-102. And neither way uses switches. The best way in order to keep all of 10 meters is to add two transformers on the rf board and use the aux band. The other way you will lose half of the 10 meter band. You will no longer find the Mod on the internet anywhere. I was very fortunate to find someone who was willing to share and give me the info years ago. I promised that person I would keep it to myself.
Yeah ive done this before. Its pretty easy.I have a Malcomized 102 and I simply clipped one diode (forget which one, but it was in CB Tricks). The high end makes it to 27.530 but that is enough for me. The digital readout still shows 29 instead of 27, again ok with me (you give up 29.0 to 29.5). I stopped the mods there because I did not want to hack it up and it's a simple reversal.. A little RX tuning is needed for better 11m sensitivity in that band position.
Yeah cb tricks is gonzo. I think bbi determined if you pay them you can access the old site. Some say use the wayback machine. I tried but it didn't work for me, too difficult from a mobile phone. Thanks for the upload. People can search and find it here.Looks like I can install a switch to get either below 27.5 or above 27.5, that would make a lot of switch flipping haha! I guess that makes it workable, now to figure out where to mount the switch. Maybe a little box on a cord coming out of the back somewhere.
Uploaded just in case.....
