Yaesu FT-1802

I was driving to work today with the FT-1802 in the MEM scan mode and noticed that it would resume scanning while there was still a signal (that is a scanning option but I don't have that selected). I stopped the scanning on a 2m repeater to listen to the QSO in progress and all of a sudden it goes to the next MEM channel? Then about every 5 seconds it would advance to the next channel? Anyone ever seen this before? I have had the radio for about two and a half years.

1802 scanning

Park here is how you set up scanning.

Three scan-resume modes are available on the
FT-1802M:

In the “BUSY” mode, the scanner will remain halted for as long as there is carrier present on the channel; after the carrier drops at the end of the other station’s transmission, scanning will resume.

In the “HOLD” mode, the scanner will halt on a signal it encounters. It will not restart automatically; you must manually re-initiate scanning if you wish to resume.

In the “3SEC/5SEC/10SEC” mode, the scanner will halt for the selected resume time, after which scanning will resume (whether or not the other station is still transmitting).
The default scan-stop mode is “

BUSY.” To change the scan-resume mode, use the following
procedure:
1. Press and hold in the [

MHz(SET)] key for one second, then
rotate the

DIAL knob to select “41 RESUME.”
2. Press the [

MHz(SET)] key, then rotate the DIAL knob to
select the desired scan-resume mode.
3. Press and hold in the [

MHz(SET)] key for one second to save the new setting and exit to
normal operation.

No problem, it could be the heat. We've had about 30 days of 100 or above and today is going to be the 10th day of 105 or above! I've recorded two 109's last week. But it's NOT global warming, it did this in 1999, 1990, 1980 etc......

Well I will address this here since this site has such a crummy search feature. I found this thread through Google. Not even the search here will return Yaesu 1802!!!! I just got a FT-1802M and I am majorly disappointed that my Radio Shack 2670 scanner puts this thing to shame. I may try transmitting sometime if I can figure out their stupid directions. I am following them to the letter and can enter a freq but there is no "enter" button and it just keeps flashing.
