Yaesu FTM-350 GPS & Navi Video Review

Installing FGPS-1

Sorry to resurrect this thread so late but I just got my -350R and I'm trying to get the FGPS-1 installed. The ribbon cable slides in to the slot but it sure doesn't seem to 'stick.' When i power the radio up I do not see the 'GPS' icon next to the 'PTT' text like I see in all the images. Is there some other setting I have to tweak to get the radio to recognize the GPS?

Thanks for all the great tips!

The GPS icon will only show once it finds enough sats (which can take some time depending how where it is located). You should be able to go through the menus and see the GPS menus. Some can be disabled, but I do not recall having to add them when I installed the GPS.

You're right, but that wasn't my problem. Thanks to the patience of Tim at Yaesu I discovered I wasn't putting the ribbon cable into the right slot! I was shoving it into the thin space ABOVE the slot! The fact that the blue end of hte ribbon cable completely disappeared when I installed it was Tim's clue.

I'm good now - thanks!
