Yaesu has discontinued the FT-857D

Had a good run. Hopefully, they bring out something sweet to replace it. I could handle adding V/U to the 891, but only if they fix its goofy menu quirks.
I like the 857, but I just wish it had a larger screen on it.
To me it is a great all in one radio with HF, 6m, 2m and 70cm and in such a small package. The face is where things go a bit south for my taste, but I think for the price I can live with it.

I have a 897, it is not a bad radio when you consider what it will do in such a small package.
It has some faults but all considered it has been a fun radio and has served me ok over the years.
Yes the display is small but it does the job.

I have used it in the shack and mobile, banged it around, taken it camping, even poured water out of it one time when I left it sitting out during a thunderstorm and it still works.
I have had worse.
Wish the NB worked better for mobile use.

I still got it, I guess that says something.

About an 18 years production run.

I kinda wonder how many new IC 7300's will be sold in 2038.

I heard these dudes on 80 meters talking about a net they were in. They said there was 26 check-ins using 7300's. I been hearing lots of them myself. 7300's do sound good, but I just didn't care for mine. Icom could probably increase sales if they produced a version of it as a standalone SDR rig. It'd be a poor man's Flex or Anon.

I use the ft-857d the last 3-4 years. I love it. Wish I Yaesu create a new small size all band all modes TX/RX with SDR as FTDX-10.
Sorry for the intervention does anybody knows how to solve a problem with my ft-857d? The main rig dial does not work on AM/FM mode in all bands. It operates naturally in SSB, CW, Digital.
I truly believe there is a function that turned off the main dial.
