Yaesu M-1 microphone

I ordered two before the sell out. They put the Fred Norris sound board in the base.It Has a Baba Booey button too!

I’ll await the pair:

Alexander Scourby

Don LaFontaine

Or maybe:

Rex Allen, Sr

Tex Ritter

If ya can’t make ‘em sit up and believe with their eyes wide open, what’s the point?

An expensive item, granted.

But — as with speakers — the rest of the gear is almost pointless without serious attention to these.

Morse Code or Teletype serve where words chosen are the minimum.

Voice, is imparting far more than a dictionary selection.

Having something to say is one thing. Knowing HOW to say it quite another.

This microphone neither here nor there, relatively, except to serve this end.

New mic coming from Yaesu with dual elements. Costs more than a new HF rig. Wow that good?

"The M-1 Reference Microphone is the ultimate, high-quality, innovative desktop microphone, dedicated to the most discriminating Ham Radio Operators. It features combined Condenser and Dynamic microphone elements.

The Condenser Microphone Element produces greater frequency response and clear, crisp audio characteristics perfect for being heard on crowd bands and in big DX pile-ups, while the Dynamic Microphone Element delivers the rich low-mid tonalities, favored for local QSOs. The response of each microphone element may be adjusted independently using the internal Nine (9) Band Graphic Equalizer. Each element has a separate volume control for independent adjustment of output levels. The output of each microphone may be selected separately, or they may be combined to produce the most pleasant tonality.

Both the Condenser Element and Dynamic Element in the M-1 utilize the Nine (9) Band Graphic Equalizer (63Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 8kHz, 16kHz). Each element’s frequency response is independently adjustable. Two (2) frequency response memories and a “through” mode are provided for each element, and are easily switchable by one-touch buttons on the microphone base.

The supplied TBC (Treble Boost Cowling) enhances the voice response around the important 1 – 1.5kHz range. Attaching the cowling creates a condensed unique tonal texture that is pleasing for many.

The PTT key uses three Air-Cylinder Tubes which afford a smooth and comfortable long keystone. The contactless magnetic switch ensures long-life and stable operation.

Other included features are; Recording and playback capability (20 seconds), to confirm the audio tonality; Large red TX LED Indicator; Large Graphic Equalizer and Frequency Response Scope LCD Display with anti-reflective coating; Headphone jack; Touch PTT keylock; Built-in low-cut filter to shape the low frequency response; Cannon-type (XLR) output plug connector; and Audio output volume control for headphones. Two screwdrivers are included to precisely adjust the graphic equalizer and microphone gains.

A local guy bought one. He still sounds like ass. Big waste

A microphone won't band aid a shitty radio.
Well he has a ftdx101 but he likes to over do everything like its ch6. the real deal is you cant fit a camel through the eye of a needle. The radios audio chain will decide what you can do more than the mic no matter how much money you throw at it.
Radio sounded the same without the m1 . I havent heard other m1 mics but i have heard other FTDX101 radio. Anyway short of doing some direct audio injection through a mixer this mic is like putting lipstick on a pig. Very expensive lipstick

Well, it does have a 9 band equalizer. At least some Tailoring of the frequency is possible
