Zero-five antenna

Tom was such a very nice guy on the phone when I called him asking questions about the 05..antenna
. But it looks like I'll be sticking with the starduster for now..
for price and performance the maco v5/8 would be the only antenna id try to replace the starduster with. is your starduster a sirio or antenna specialist??

A center fed dipole like the StarDuster works quite well, even has about 3dB gain over a 1/4 wave GP but you'll see an improvement in your long range non-skip DX of around an S unit near the fringe areas of the 1/2 wave when switching to a 5/8 due to a typically lower angle of radiation.
They just seem to hang in there longer, at least that's what I saw when I lived on a ridge and had both.
The 5/8 Hustler outperformed the Starduster by a notable amount on both receive and xmit, especially out around 40-75 miles
