Hey guys I just traded for a couple of 3500's and from what I have been told they need some help not sure what is really wrong. Not sure if they have receive or transmit but I may be able to get them going or take two to make one.
What I am looking for is a reputable service person to go through them either on the US or Canadian side, would prefer Canadian only because of shipping prices and the exchange on the dollar.
Any direction would be great.
Cheers Donnie

Bobs won't take anymore mail in customers unless you bought the radio from him.
Thanks though.
Cheers

Good luck with that radio. It was discontinued decades ago. Don't know who was the vendor who made them. It has a lot of parts that are unique, and the only source when you need a replacement will be a junk unit. Anyone who repairs these has to be a specialist in this model with a fair-size junkyard on hand.

Add to this the oddball nature of the radio's PLL section and you may have to turn over a lot of rocks to find anyone who is both able and willing to get one of these working again.

It's an intriguing design, and ahead of its time in the mid-1980s. But in a way it's the DeLorean of the 10-meter radio market. Cool, unique, but lots of trouble to maintain.

Yeah they are a rare breed that's for sure I have a buddy looking at them for me and it not there is another guy he knows that may be able to help me out.
I do have two units so I may get lucky and buddy will be able to make one good one out of the pair.
If not they will look good sitting on the shelf LOL.

Very cool didn't know that.
Well hopefully my buddies can make one good one out of the pair.
Just want to put it in the shack to monitor 10 and 11 and free up my TS-850SAT for HF

You may want to try Mike's Radio Repair or Snake Radio Customs. They have posted videos where they have repaired AR-3500's. I have not had too many problems finding parts so far, and hopefully your rig may be easier to fix.

I am in the process of rebuilding a 125 watt model, that had a lot of problems, makes me wonder if it was hit by lightning. I just bought a 30 watt version and believe it or not it just needed a speaker. And a bonus was the previous owner did not touch any of the slugs or potentiometers.

These are fun radios and I bought mine just to relive the late '80's again! I did all of my novice work on these including CW, worked many countries on 10 meters.

Good luck to you.
