How Exports compare against the old tube types such as Tram

Yeah, I know what you mean. But it seems people are forgetting what good audio sounded like years ago. A lot of people run way too much echo. We had d104's and was loud but today the echo and the loudness together is too much for me sometimes. Just my two cents......guess I'm old fashion. Its...

How Exports compare against the old tube types such as Tram

Yeah, that is my weakness, I like all the classic rigs. I would collect them. I'm sure some of these newer export rigs will be classics one of these days too. They sure are making some good ones. The competition is good so more good ones are coming out. I guess I need to buy a few more lottery...

How Exports compare against the old tube types such as Tram

Yeah I was counting on the TTC working....I wished I knew what to check. All the tubes have been checked by two different tech's and I replaced a few that were bad. They all should be okay now. It may take a while but I will find someone close that knows alittle about Trams. update......got...

How Exports compare against the old tube types such as Tram

I have had it on for a couple of hours and the AC is having a hard time keeping the shack cool... This one must be the newer 201. It doesn't say Diamond on it... I can't get the transmited tone to work at all. (TTC) I guess that is what that is. VFO does not work. Everyone says I need some...

How Exports compare against the old tube types such as Tram

What would you do. OLD Browning MK lll, Tram D201 or one of your favorite exports???? Would you have to be a technician to be able to keep one of these old radios going? I'm wondering myself. . . but I believe I would have to go with the newer radio's. What do you think. I had a old...

Need opinions with new dual band radio's

Right now I'm leaning toward the Yaesu 8900 or 8800 because of the better audio. I have a Yaesu FT100D that I did the mic mod to and have the FM gain turned up to 65. I have been told it sounds real good on 2 meter. I would put that radio in the truck but I really like the dual recieve of a...

Need opinions with new dual band radio's

I'm looking for a little help picking a good dual band radio. I've read the reviews on Eham.net on a few radios, namely the Kenwood 708 and Yaesu 8800. I have had a few dual banders in the past like the Kenwood 733, (which I really liked) and the blue faced Kenwood V7. It was a pretty good radio...

Big Question: Why do most Ham radio's sound like crap on AM

Well, no . . . thats not always true. Some tube radios don't sound near as good as the Yaesu 101 series... IMHO  I have researched this (ham radio's) for over a year about what radio's sound best on AM. I think I am just about as confused now as ever. I did make a good decision...

What is Your Favorite Base Microphone?

It does depend on the mode and the radio but for AM I like the D104 but the Shure 444D is really good too. I'm sure both are okay for SSB too.... Also, a Sadelta mc-3 is a good one too if you like a little echo.

    Maco V5000

Master Chief, I appreciate the instructions also. I bought one of these this weekend and almost hit 1.1 the first try. I adjusted the top section and never touched the ring on the bottom. I had a MFJ 269 analyzer and it was a piece of cake. Its nice to have the information that this forum...
